Hello! I’m Erica Mitchell.

I’m a marketing and communications professional with over 15 years of experience in the field of education. As a skilled communicator, I bring a unique perspective to my work helping organizations get their message to the right people using the best channels.

I worked at Denver Public Schools for more than a decade, including eight years as a senior leader on the communications team. As the director of marketing, I managed all aspects of the brand, our district-wide and school marketing efforts, and external and crisis communications strategy and support. I established DPS’ first creative services team and led the organization as we defined our brand voice, tone and style guide and standardized the visual brand with new internal and external brand guidelines. I was a leader on the crisis team and crafted messages during countless snow-day closures, a teacher strike, and the unprecedented 2020-21 school year. Through it all, one of my favorite parts of the job has always been working closely with school teams to build their brand, tell their story, and stay connected to their communities.

Prior to my time in public education, I spent a few years managing accounts for a multicultural marketing agency specializing in culturally relevant campaigns geared toward Denver’s diverse communities. I’ve also spent time living and working abroad, and leading marketing efforts for organizations in international and higher education. Within all of my roles, I’ve especially enjoyed putting my Spanish skills to use to improve and broaden communications efforts and outcomes.

I’m a Colorado native and proud to be a CSU Ram, but I love to venture out of my home state to explore the world every chance I get. I currently live in the Denver Metro area with my creative-director husband and our two little redheads, Ruby and Margot.
